Life Is Good & I Can See The Light Of This World

<3 to love the whole world. It is grand.

It seems to me, that everyone has periods of darkness and periods of light in their lives. I have been recently coming out of a period of very personal darkness, and coming to Ireland has felt like a celebration of my transitioning into better times. Going to see the Cliffs of Moher was a very profound experience for me. Taking in the sight for the first time, I could only think one thing: “Now you can see the light in the world.” The world is grand. My eyes felt so rich with this sight, I felt like a million bucks, if only because I have lived to see something as exquisite and grand.

At first, there is a short wall that keeps you from going to the edge, a suicide prevention sign on it, asking if you need to talk and offering a phone number. The Majestic and the Tragic piled up together.  I started walking towards the right and eventually the stone wall is gone. The wind was blowing with such strong force, my feet were lifted up more than once…seeing how easily I could be blown off (as the tour bus driver warned us) I held on to a very thin wire along the path, sometimes frozen by the cold. It was an adrenaline rush, and it was an adventure like no other. But no worries, the wind was not that strong the entire time and I managed to keep myself on the ground.

I walked and walked, until there were stone steps and a little path that led me down to the very edge of a cliff. I felt like a child, ecstatic with this discovery! I like to call it the Cliffs of Moher Jackpot Spot.
A college student here in Ireland said she had to take 5 trips to the cliffs in order to see them (because of the weather). Our tour guide/ bus driver had told us to keep a positive attitude, and that if we smiled the sun would be out by the time we got to the cliffs. IRISH LUCK & BEAMING SMILES has got to be the trick to good weather at the cliffs…because the sun was shining bright. Some travelers said it was the best weather they had seen in Ireland so far.

Today I took it easy in Galway. I took the free walking tour, ate some traditional Irish breakfast for lunch, and simply let it all be.

I have had some challenges during the trip as well. I originally wanted to spend 3 days in Galway and the rest in Dublin. But due to there being zero availability for hostels in Dublin, it ends up being that I will spend my last 3 days in Dublin and the rest of the trip in Galway. At first, I was disappointed, and for a while, I could not find a place to sleep from the weekend on…You can say I worried quite a bit about that. But then, I realized all the fantastic outdoor adventures I am able to have if I stay in Galway  most of the time instead of Dublin (more on those adventures in the upcoming days).

The kitchen wall at my hostel is a fantastic work of art with the following writing, which I hope will be as inspiring and encouraging to you as it has been to me throughout this trip:

This is your LIFE. Do what you love and do it often. If you don’t like something, change it. IF YOU DON ‘T LIKE YOUR JOB, QUIT. If you don’t have enough time, stop watching TV. If you are looking for the love of your life, stop. They will be waiting for you when you start doing things you love. Stop over analyzing, all emotions are beautiful. When you eat, appreciate every last bite. LIFE IS SIMPLE. Open your mind, arms and heart to new things and people, we are united in our differences. Ask the next person you see what their passion is, and share your inspiring dream with them. TRAVEL OFTEN. Getting lost will help you find yourself. Some opportunities only come once, seize them. Life is about the people you meet, and the things you create with them. So go out and start creating. Live your dream AND WEAR YOUR PASSION. LIFE IS SHORT.

I cannot believe I am here.
xoxo
